FORTNITE · GLIDER ARCHIVE 6

One of my primary tasks on FORTNITE was getting the skydiving, freefall, and gliders to work in-game. After the initial release and success of the game, it became clear we would be making a lot more gliders. Since we had a small team of 4 animators at the time, and I did the original work, I was the only one available to do this. Some gliders were very easy to animate and get working, but overtime these became increasingly more complex with creature like behaviors and lots of blueprint work to get everything playing nice together. Eventually I wrote documentation on the entire process as well as tools to make creation easier so other people could work on glider animation and implementation.

Feels like I made hundreds of these over the years and I tried to document all of the ones I worked on from start to finish in these archives. I also have a longer form video and trailer outlining the overall process I went through to create this aspect of the game's animation which is a bit more entertaining to watch.
