FORTNITE

I started on FORTNITE right after the original Save the World mode shipped and we were gearing up to work on the Battle Royale mode. Most of the work I’ve done has been related to skydiving and gliders, but I have worked on systems for sharing animations with thrown items and consumables, as well as augmenting movement sets with custom items when needed. A few monster animations here and there when Save the World needed help, but it’s been mostly Battle Royale for a good portion of the time on this project. A lot of the work I’ve done usually involves blueprints and integrating animations or optimizing systems. I’ve also written several tools to help speed my own and the team’s production. The most popular seems to be the rig swapper which allows us to easily swap from one character to another, or even just swap bodies. Sounds a bit simple, but the way the ARTv1 characters are made, simply switching references manually tends to break a whole bunch of stuff and is not intuitive. The rig swapper lets you easily pick which head and body you want from any character – even on any project as long as the rig is an ARTv1 rig. I also made a custom mirror tool which I use regularly for glider symmetry in poses or even full animations. It pretty much works on any character or rig though, I designed it to be flexible as possible. Hopefully I can add some videos to demo some of those tools here.
