DOOM · idDevs - JOURNEY THROUGH SCREENSHOTS
SPOILERS: VIDEO GOES THROUGH ENTIRE GAME. This is a video that I put together after I finished working on the credit sequence for the game. The idea for this actually spawned the idea of working on the credits, so they kind of go hand in hand.

While I was taking screenshots during my play testing at the end of production, I would send them out to the team each night. When you’ve seen and worked on a game for as long as some of us had, it’s easy to forget how good it looks due to the slow evolution. Plus we all tend to be focused on what we are working on. The first night I think I sent out four screenshots to one of our emails lists called iddevs. I was going to write something, but instead just put “iddevs” in the subject. This was pretty much just to say, “look at what you have done, all of you!” Since it was a culmination of everyone’s hard work. People seemed to really enjoy this, and since I made many team videos, I thought, why not put them to music when I was all done. Well, I only got through a few levels before the credits happened. However, once that was done, I went back and finished off taking screenshots. I sort of ran out of steam towards the end because I was so excited to cut them together.

I remember staying till 3am the final night trying to export the video. I thought one good song would do it, but I ended up using six. Normally I don’t call out music and all the copyrights, but since I used full tracks in this case I thought it was important to at least note them at the start of each one. I also have them listed below. Hope this doesn’t cause any issues with the music industry. These are straight screenshots from the game since we did not have the photomode tool at the time. The only enhancements I would do were fov changes and depth of field. Though, I did have the ability to stop time, hide the weapon, and fly around at will.
