When Rockstar was teasing its Red Dead Redemption 2 reveal trailer with black silhouettes against a stark red and orange sunset, everyone started doing funny or homage images in the same format. TitanFall 2, Gears of War, The Lion King, etc. I thought DOOM had the perfect characters to pull this off and knew there wasn’t much time to get it done since the moment would pass once the full reveal was done. I didn’t think it would be too difficult and posed a few of the monsters and marine in a similar stance as the reveal image. Originally I had the Cacodemon floating above the characters as a similar silhouette, but it just didn’t work right. I really wanted to have the marine in the center so I couldn’t put the caco there, but instead decided he would make a good replacement for the sunset. I got it all done in an hour or so and then posted it to my twitter. Even though everyone, including other studios, was doing this, I think I must have stepped on some toes because I was asked to take it down after someone from within our own studio complained about it… In hindsight, I probably should have passed it along to someone who runs the official id twitter so they could take credit for it, but I thought the moment would be fleeting and didn’t want to miss it...sadly this image missed out on all the fun.
