DOOM · SULLIVAN "MOCAP" SHOOT

Every year Zenimax has Christmas meetings where all of the individual companies within the Zenimax family around the world send developers to share what they are working on. There are usually some funny videos involved. Sheen, my lead and I, had always talked about doing a short where all of the monsters from the game worked like normal employees at id. Kind of like the ESPN commercials where the athletes work in the office wearing their game uniforms and performing mundane tasks. Well, we never really got around to doing that idea because of time constraints, something like that takes a tremendous amount of work. However, I did managed to put this shot together over a weekend before one of Christmas meetings. The mocap guys shot a blank plate with Roger Berrones acting as director. I then took some of our Hellknight animations, added an intro of him nervously scratching before the take, blended some actions together, made a mocap suit and texture for him, and then lit and comped the whole thing. Of course, if it's not painfully obvious, the gag is, you cannot mocap a Hellknight because they dont't exist.
